I’ve pleased to announce that I will be having a solo show of 30 landscapes (urban, rural and in-between) oil paintings of San Diego and Italy this July 29th-August 16 at the Prince Street Gallery in Chelsea – NYC, NY. The opening is on Thursday July 31 – from 5pm – 8pm
The show’s title, “In and Out of Sight”, reflects the fact that much of my recent work was done both on site and in the studio; from observation and from invention. Some paintings discovered insights into certain visual-emotional connections as well as a few that just felt out of sight.
The paintings done over multiple sittings evolved from scraping the paint off and on – forms coming in and out of sight and gradually coalesce into a unified whole. Some of the works are paintings that I had started previously on site and then reopened them up for studio work, a few I brought back and forth, combining studio inventions with on-site observation.
I hope any readers who are in NYC during this time will be able to come to the opening and/or send me an email and I may be able to meet you there as I will be in NYC for two weeks after the show starts.
Below is a sampling of work that will shipped for the show. I still have several paintings for show that still need to be photographed – once I do I will update this post with them here. (all images below have larger version when clicked)
