Auguries, Solo Exhibition at the Prince Street Gallery

April 18, 2019 By larry groff

I am pleased to announce my next solo exhibition in New York City at the Prince Street Gallery, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 – Saturday, June 15, 2019. The artist reception will be on Thursday, May 23 from 5 – 8 pm (530 West 25th Street 4th Floor)

I will be showing paintings made since 2017 but primarily work that reflects the show’s theme, Auguries. These are imagination-based paintings, many which depict forms moving through atmospheric spaces that are influenced from microscope views of sand grains; taking inspiration from the William Blake poem, Auguries of Innocence, “looking at the world through a grain of sand,”

I am putting together a print catalog and will have more information and images coming soon.

Below are a few images that will be in the show.

A Moment of Holding, 20 × 16 inches, Oil on linen, 2019
Earthly Mothers Waiting, 42 × 32 inches, Oil on linen, 2019
Blue Rondo, 16 × 16 inches, Oil on linen, 2018

Paintings from Anza, CA on view at Santa Ysabel Art Gallery

November 28, 2015 By larry groff

JanesPlace

I currently have 6 paintings on view in a group show at Santa Ysabel Art Gallery in Santa Ysabel (near Julian, CA)  including 4 new works painted at Jane Culp’s home in Anza, CA where I was fortunate to get to paint for a couple of weeks in this devastatingly beautiful  60 acres in a remote mountain area of the Anza-Borrego Desert.

I didn’t have time to take the greatest photos but here are some preliminary  iPhone shots, I apologise for the less than ideal images.
